Thinking of upgrading to a Waterfall Bathroom Faucet is it actually practical?

I'm doing a mini-reno on my guest bath and I'm in love with the look of a Waterfall Bathroom Faucet. I discovered an amazingly pretty matte black one on abodelook and it perfectly fits my budget. To those that have one: does the water really remain in the sink? I have heard horror tales of splashing, yet the abodelook reviews mention that their design is flow optimized. Would it be alright to have some actual feedback?
