کانادا فیلم «پسر بامزه» را برای رقابت در بخش فیلم بلند بین‌المللی اسکار ۲۰۲۱ معرفی کرد.

درامی ساخته دیپا میهتا که داستانش در سریلانکا می‌گذرد از سوی کانادا برای شرکت در رقابت اسکار بهترین فیلم بلند بین‌المللی انتخاب شد.«پسر بامزه» اقتباسی از رمانی درباره بزرگ شدن به قلم شیام سلوادورای از سوی کانادا به اسکار می‌رود.

براندون اینگرام، نیمی هاراسگاما، علی کاظمی، آگام دارشی و آروش نادا، بازیگران این فیلم هستند که قرار است از ۴ دسامبر در کانادا اکران شود.

این فیلم در سریلانکا فیلمبرداری شده و داستانش در دهه ۱۹۷۰ و ۱۹۸۰ می‌گذرد و تصویرگر پسر نوجوانی به نام آرجی است که در حالی که تنش‌های سیاسی بین اقلیت تامیلی‌ها و اکثریت سینهالی‌ها در حال افزایش است، در خانواده و جامعه‌ای دارد رشد می‌کند که تفاوت‌های بیرون از نرم‌های اجتماعی را برنمی‌تابد.

فیلمنامه این فیلم را میهتا و سلوادورای نوشته‌اند.

مهلت معرفی فیلم منتخب هر کشور به آکادمی اسکار برای رقابت در این بخش یکم دسامبر ۲۰۲۰ است.

نامزدهای راه یافته به رقابت ۱۵ مارچ معرفی و مراسم اهدای جوایز اسکار ۲۰۲۱ در ۲۵ اپریل برگزار می‌شود.
