From Normal to Magic: Best Uses of Orb of Transmutation

When you play Path of Exile 2, one of the first currencies you’ll meet is the Orb of Transmutation. This little item looks simple, but it can change how you build gear in the early game. It turns a normal (white) item into a magic (blue) item. That sounds small, but it’s actually very powerful if you know when and how to use it. Today, I’ll share some easy tips about using this orb, and how it connects with the bigger world of PoE 2 currency.

Why Use Orb of Transmutation?

In the early game, your character is weak and gear drops are random. Sometimes you get a good base item but it’s just white with no special stats. By using an Orb of Transmutation, you can give that item 1–2 magic modifiers. For example, a weapon can get “+ to attack speed” or “added elemental damage,” which makes it much stronger. This is often better than waiting around for a rare drop.

Best Times to Use the Orb

On Good Bases: Don’t waste it on random junk. If you find a nice weapon type or a strong armor base, then use it.

Before Crafting: Magic items can later be upgraded with other orbs, like Orb of Augmentation (to add another affix) or Orb of Alteration (to reroll stats). This is a cheap way to shape your early gear.

During Early Levels: At low levels, every small boost matters. A magic weapon can double your clear speed compared to a plain white one.

The Orb of Transmutation is just the start. Later, you will need more advanced PoE 2 currency like Chaos Orbs, Divine Orbs, and Jeweller’s Orbs to make your gear even stronger.
